A disease with no symptoms, osteoporosis affects about 20 percent of men and 80 % of women. While the bones gradually become weaker, they will probably break due to a minor fall or, if left untreated, even from something as simple as a sneeze.

The most common fracture sites are hip, wrist and spine, although any bone in your body may be affected. A diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis tend to be scary, leading most of us to quit exercise because of fear it will cause fractures. The reality is that those with low bone mass should try to exercise on a regular basis.

Being active has been shown to not simply assist in preventing osteoporosis, but slow bone loss once it’s already begun.

Before beginning a training program, you have to talk with a medical expert for guidelines, as level of bone loss determines exactly what workout is best.

Physicians can assess bone mineral density and fracture risk by scanning your body with a special type of X-ray machine. As well as exercise, treatment may include dietary modifications and/or estrogen replacement therapy.

The more you know in regards to this condition, the more you can do to help prevent its onset.
To make strength and bone mass, both weight-bearing and strength training work outs are ideal.
Weight-bearing work outs are those that require the bones to completely support your weight against gravity.
Examples are walking, jogging, stair climbing, dancing or using an elliptical machine.

Non-weight bearing exercises include biking, swimming, water aerobics and rowing.

Weight-bearing activities such as walking less than 3 times per week will benefit the bones.

Strength training places mechanical force (stress) on the body, that might increases bone density.

Start by lifting light weights, moving in a slow and controlled manner, increasing resistance as you become stronger.

It is recommended that folks with osteoporosis avoid the following kinds of activity:

* Step aerobics and high-impact activities including running, jumping, tennis.

* Activities that involve rounding, bending and twisting of the spine.

* Moving the legs sideways or across the body, particularly when performed against resistance.

* Rowing machines, trampolines.

* Any movement that involves pulling on the head and neck.

Exercise Tips:

* Even if you do not have osteoporosis, you should seek advice from your health care provider before you begin a workout program.

* Make sure you warm up before starting and cool down at the conclusion of each exercise session.

* To find the best profit to your bone health, combine a number of different weight-bearing exercises.

* As you build strength, increase resistance, or weights, instead of repetitions.

* Be sure you drink plenty of water whenever exercising.

* Vary the types of exercise that you try every week.

* Combine weight bearing and resistance exercise with aerobic exercises to help you improve your general health.

* Bring your friend along to help you keep going or in addition to this, bring your family and encourage them to be healthy.

* Add more physical activity to your day; take the stairs vs. the elevator, park further way, and walk to your co-worker’s office instead of emailing.

Certain factors increase the probability of developing osteoporosis.

While a few of these risk factors are controllable, others won’t be.

Risk factors that could be controlled are: Sedentary lifestyle, excess intake of protein, sodium, caffeine and/or alcohol, smoking, calcium and Vitamin D deficiencies and taking certain medicines.

Body size (small frame), gender, family history and ethnicity are risk factors that are not to be controlled.

Women can lose nearly 20 percent of their bone mass in the five to seven years after menopause, driving them to more vulnerable to osteoporosis.

About 85-90 percent of adult bone mass is acquired by age 18 in girls and 20 in boys.

There are three main types of eye shadows to pick from. Cream, powder or liquid. There are other types such as pencils or crayons but they are not as common as they once were.

Cream eye shadows are a good idea if you have delicate eyelid skin. But you must be careful if you choose this type because creamy, oil-based are not for wrinkled skin or drooping eyelids. The biggest complaint against wearing powder eye shadows is that it does come off. Wearing a eye shadow base will help with keeping your eye shadow in place longer through the day. Don’t rub your eyes either, for that will remove your eye shadow as well.

Liquid eye shadows come in a tube with usually a brush or sponge tip. Problem with liquid is once it dries, it doesn’t blend or smudge. It has more staying power than other types of eye shadows which is its major advantage. Many use a liquid eye shadow as their base for their powder eye shadows.

Pencils are not really eye shadows per say but some use them as such. Most of the time pencil eye shadows are used as eye liner because of the ease in use. They have amazing staying power and can really bring out your eyes. But you must be careful in applying them because too much can make you look like you have two black eyes instead.

We all know that one reason is to have nice-looking nails. When people ask me why I wear my toenails polished I usually just tell them that it’s simply because I like it.  I guess that is why most anyone would wear it.  But if they seem interested and want more of an explanation, I explain that it was not always that way.  I was ‘deathly afraid’ like most men of being labeled as being feminine or gay.  But over the course of a number of life events, I learned that neither of those labels fit because they really have nothing to do with wanting to have nice-looking feet.

You see, nail polish is just paint after all… just a little color to make life a bit more interesting and fun.  It makes me wonder why more men don’t do this.  I can only see benefits to it.  It looks good, it feels great and there is an endless selection of colors and finishes that you could not possibly run out of options to keep experimenting with!

But maybe the real reason why I wear my toenails polishes is because it has provided me many, many good opportunities to meet interesting and open-minded people.  The conversations that have resulted from a curious person asking me why I wear my toenails polished have been positive, exciting and as varied as the number of people who have asked me this question.

Why would a guy even begin considering something like this?  I was actually lured into this by my wife of all people!  She had teased me with her nail polish occasionally when she was painting her nails, and I managed to stay out of her reach of her wet brush for quite a while.  But one day, I just gave in and let her paint my toenails because I thought “Why not?  It’s only paint”.  So she did it, and it actually looked quite good – which surprised us both!

It took me a while to wear it openly because I thought other people would think I was ‘weird’, and no one likes that feeling.  But I became more comfortable with it, and once I did wear it with sandals, it was like a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders because most people didn’t even notice.  I even received a few compliments!  I knew at that point that I had had made the right decision to just wear my toes polished if I wanted to because it was not really that big of a deal – certainly not what I made it out to be.

I have since enjoyed many a professional pedicure along with my wife and it is even something we look forward to when we need or want a relaxing evening out together.  And, I am happy to say that it appears to be catching on.  We have since seen more couples getting their nails done together, and it makes us feel good that more are able to enjoy this simple pleasure as we have.

Is this something that every guy should try?  Probably not, because not all men will like it.  And not all of their wives or girlfriends may like it either.  But I know there are many men who have been intrigued with nail polish, as I was for many years before I tried it, and they will probably give it a shot the next time the opportunity comes by.

I sincerely hope this blog will encourage more men to try nail polish because it is not something that only women are able to enjoy.   Many gals will even tell you that they wish their man would ‘do something’ about his ugly, rough feet.  Well, a professional pedicure is the place to start!  And there are even colors and formulations of nail polish now that are specially designed for men, since some savvy companies realize that there is a growing demand for these products.

Beautiful hair is a thing that many people crave but few know how to achieve. In fact it is not a complicated matter. When creating beautiful hair you will need to understand the common blunders that most people make.

• Not conditioning your hair: One of the most common mistakes that people make is neglecting to use conditioner every time you wash your hair. When you do not do this your hair will be prone to split ends. Also it will be frizzier and get tangled easier.
• Wrong style: Many people do not fully understand the shape of their face when they style their hair. There are many different shapes of faces. Some have round faces others heart shaped and still more have angular shaped faces. As you age your face will go through subtle changes in shape. Resist the temptation to try every new trend when it is not suitable to your face.
• Choice of products: Be very careful about what products you select for your hair. Your hair is a delicate thing and using the wrong products on it can be very detrimental to your look. Hair has different types; oily, dry or normal. You should adapt your shampoo and conditioner to suit your own hair type. Try to use natural products like coconut oil rather than ones with many chemicals.
• Dark roots: If you want to be a shade more blond than you really are, do not let those dark roots show. Touch them up at home, if possible, or go to your favorite salon. Nothing makes a beautiful blond tackier than dark roots showing through.
• Braiding and tying your hair: try not to braid or tie your hair too tight. This will pull your roots and weaken your hair. It can even lead to your hair falling out.
• Brushing your hair: Never pull at your hair when you brush it and get tangles. Gently try to loosen up the tangle before you brush it. Do not rush when brushing hair, take your time and give it slow firm strokes. This will spread the sebum evenly within your hair, help blood flow to the scalp and of course get rid of loose skin and debris from your hair.
• Be careful of color products: using cheap ones can damage your hair and even cause it to fall out. Always consult your hairdresser as to which color product is best for your hair. When using a new product you should test it on a lock of hair first. Sometimes the color is not quite what you expected. Remember to match the color to your particular skin tone and color. Not everyone looks good blond or a vibrant red.
• It is not wise to cut your own hair: If you want a short style try to have patience and make an appointment with your stylist. Unless you are expert it is very hard to style your hair and even trimming can be a little tricky.

1. Brushing your hair: do not just tear at your hair when you brush it. Give it firm but gentle strokes. The old adage of giving your hair 100 strokes is not wrong; in fact it is very good for your hair. It increases the blood flow to your scalp, gets rid of old dead skin cells and supplies the hair with sebum. Always brush your hair before you wash it.
2. Massaging your scalp: This is done using the tips of your fingers and making circular movements. You should do this on a daily basis. Doing a daily massage will bring the blood to your scalp and help to lubricate your scalp.
3. Washing your hair: Try not to wash your hair daily. This will dry out your scalp and stimulate your sebum glands. This will make your hair too oily and irritate your scalp. Always be careful when choosing a shampoo. It should match your hair type. Remember what works for your best friend may not necessarily work for you. When washing your hair do not pile it up always let it hang down when shampooing. Prior to applying shampoo, wet your hair with warm water using a gentle force of water from the shower. Massage the shampoo into your scalp and gently rub it into your hair. Rinse with warm water, not hot, and handle hair gently to remove shampoo. When you use your conditioner just apply to ends and roots of your hair. Towel dry your hair gently and air dry. Do not sleep in wet hair. Never brush wet hair.
4. Conditioning: use a conditioner when you shampoo. To apply this type of conditioner wash your hair and apply it to your ends. This will stop your ends from drying out. It will also keep your hair in the best possible condition. Tangles and knots can also be controlled with a good conditioner. Every week try to apply a deep conditioner. Coconut oil is good for this purpose. Wash your hair and then apply your conditioner. Wrap your hair in a warm towel, to open the hair follicles, for 10 minutes. Then rinse with warm water to rinse off the conditioner after this rinse with cool water, to close the hair follicles.
5. Trimming your hair: This should be done every 6 weeks for short hair and 8 weeks for long hair. This will stop split ends from building up and stimulates your hair to grow.

When you take care of your hair you will be taking care of your greatest asset. It will ensure that you have beautiful lovely locks for every occasion.

Why would you use a concealer? The main reasons why you might be in need of a concealer camouflage dark under eye circles. A color corrector is usually used to cover up blemish and hid redness you may find around your nose and between your eye brows.

Often depending on how dark your circles may be under your eyes, you may really need both.

Unfortunately many make the mistake of choosing the wrong shade of concealer bringing attention to what they are covering up. You have all seen someone who has made this mistake because they use a color that is too light for them giving them the raccoon look.

Under eye concealers come in a variety of shades and one should pick a color that matches your skin tone.

Under-eye concealers come in four types, stick, cream, liquid and powder.

How does one pick which type of concealer is best for you? Each type works well for everyone. Powder concealer is better for those under 40 because if you don’t apply it correctly, powder concealer could settle in the fine lines around your eyes bringing attention to that you are trying to conceal.

Stick type concealer are easy to use because you can apply it right to your skin. Many do not use it straight from the stick, instead they use a makeup brush or their fingers to be sure not to apply too much. Another problem with stick concealers are most are too heavy because of their thick consistency. They also can come all ready packaged up making it harder to pick the right shade for you. Often cheaper drugstore brands will only come in only three shades. Making it almost impossible to find the right shade for you.

Cream concealers usually come in a tube with a sponge-tipped applicator. This type is usually not as thick as a stick concealer could be, which when used gives you a more natural look. Easier to apply by just dotting a little bit around your eye and blending it in with a tapping motion with your finger or brush.

Liquid concealers also tends to come in a tube. This one you can apply with your fingers or brush as well. It may or may not come with a sponge tipped applicator. When you apply either cream or liquid concealers, use your ring finger because it is the weakest finger and is less likely to drag the delicate skin around your eyes.

Powder concealers are the newest types of concealers now available. Usually made with minerals they work best on the younger set. Most women can use a yellow-tone loose powder concealer. Those who are super pale may need a white-tone powder instead.

They are best applied with a round tip makeup brush. This type of makeup brush will apply the powder in the right areas without getting it all over your cheek. Remember also with powder concealers, a little bit goes a long way and you always apply more if its not covering up what you are wanting it to.

Most mainstream shampoos contain sulfates which is great for making lots of lather but not so great for your personal health, your hairs health and even the environments health.

So why are the mainstream companies still using sulfates in their brands of shampoos?

For the most part it is because sulfates are cheap to make and create lots of lather. Being that we are all have become accustom to the idea that lots of bubbles means really clean hair they keep making cheap shampoo’s.

Just what are sulfates and why are they an issue? You will find the in the shampoo’s ingredient listed as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which are in fact really a harsh chemical surfactants that are found in lots of other products including toothpaste. They are known to cause eye and skin irritation plus when you use shampoo that contains these ingredients they can be absorbed through the skin.

Did you know that sulfates are really far from being gentle and can be causing damage on the very thing you are trying to pamper? Yes your hair! Sulfates are very drying and can damage hair follicles which could lead to hair loss. All because we really enjoy our amazing lather while washing our hair. It can also strip the hair and scalp of essential oils causing that drying effect. Worse if you are spending lots of money to color your hair, it causes the color to fade quicker so you have to get your hair colored more often.

If you want to change your brand of shampoo and start looking into more natural and or organic shampoos but don’t know what to look for? Here are a few tips on what to look for while reading the shampoo bottle label.

Look for ingredients such as gylcerine and glucosides that come naturally from corn and sugar. Usually found on the label as decyl glucodisde or coco-glucoside. These ingredients won’t give you that lots of lather you maybe accustom to but try it for a few weeks and your hair will become healthier, shinier, silkier and softer. Now isn’t that a great trade off?

One finally thought, sulfate-free shampoos; are going to cost a bit more than your mainstream shampoos do because of their ingredients. So don’t be surprised at that, but you will in fact use less to cleanse your hair and your hair will be better over all. Isn’t that worth a extra few dollars at the counter? Your hair will love you for it!

I’ve had to buy bachelorette gifts in the past. My sister is nearly 29 and she has waited a long time to find just the right guy to marry. We are all very relieved that the big day if coming up quickly.
